Your voice is needed to Protect Mt Canobolas State Conservation Area
The new Plan of Management for the SCA was released on 9 September 2019 after being approved by the NSW Minister for Energy and Environment, Matt Kean.
The plan allows the NSW National Parks and Wildlife to consider proposals for the establishment of dedicated mountain bike tracks in the SCA under certain conditions and after an assessment of the environmental impacts through a Review of Environmental Factors. There will be an opportunity to comment on the Review of Environmental Factors when it is placed on public display. Notifications will be placed on this website when that happens.
The Canobolas Conservation Alliance is steadfastly opposed to plans by the Orange Mountain Bike Club and Orange City Council to turn the SCA, a dedicated conservation reserve, into a mountain biking park. Competitive mountain bike racing is a completely inappropriate activity within a nature conservation and cultural heritage area.
